Amalia Low, pianist, artist, and author, has brought to life a vibrant collection of illustrated books that invite young readers to open a book and be carried away by imagination, guided by her wit, sensitivity, and joyful irreverence.
She is the author of eighteen picture books, several of which have been translated into French, Portuguese, Korean, and Italian. Since 2012, Amalia has traveled through cities across Colombia and internationally — to Panama, the Dominican Republic, Spain (Madrid Book Fair 2021), France, and Switzerland — sharing her unique literary-musical performances at book fairs, schools, auditoriums, parks, and libraries.
Her work has been honored with the Biblored Interdisciplinary Creation Award (2015), the Idartes Literature Circulation Grant (2016), the Idartes Award for the Musicalization of Children’s Stories (2020), and an honorable mention in the ALAS-BID Award for Best Children’s Story (2015), along with several distinctions for her achievements as an illustrator.
