Hispanic stories!

Hispanic stories one on one online class

I know that what he learns when he listens, answers questions, reads, and writes in Spanish will help him in his future and will maintain his Latino roots.

Happy stories, Hispanic stories!

Hello, my name is Monica Orellana and I was born in Colombia.

My son Mateo is 6 years old and was born in New York.

In NY we had access to immersive classes in Spanish, but when we moved to North Carolina, we did not find any conversational classes that would help him progress in his communication in Spanish.

He has been raised bilingual but, since I am his mom, he didn’t want to speak Spanish with me. I looked online for classes or books to help him move forward. I learned about Cultural Bytes through a purchase of the Nacho book.

Mateo was in One on One classes by Cultural bytes, now he is going to #ViLaCa and Cocina con Valentina. For me, is the best investment I have made for my son. He enjoys his cooking classes a lot and the teachers are very sweet and attentive, they always help him and encourage him to try out new words that are difficult for him.

He has been in the program for 5 months and now speaks more Spanish with me, but the most surprising thing is how he manages to talk to someone who does not speak English. I’m really happy because he not only talks but also reads and writes in Spanish.

Only 5 months have had a big difference in his Spanish, something I couldn’t do at home. I know that what he learns when he listens, answers questions, reads, and writes in Spanish will help him in his future and will maintain his Latino roots.

Thank you so much Cultural Bytes!
